The Oldsmobile is an automobile manufacturing company, which was established in the year 1897. It has been estimated that the company has produced more than 35 million cars till now. The company is also considered as the oldest car manufacturer in America. The automobiles were initially manufactured in the Lansing in Michigan. However in 1901, the company could only manufacture 425 cars for the buyers that year. The company soon became the top automaker company but towards the end of 1907, the financial crisis made the path difficult for it and the General Motors bought the company in 1908. After two years, the Oldsmobile cars were manufactured with the certain characteristic features such as white tires, 42 inches wheel, 60 hp powers, 707 CID engine with 11.6L and straight-6 technique, and the well designed magneto starter from the Bosch. But, still the car could not make a big impact in the market. Consequently, during three year span, the company could only offer 725 cars. The Oldsmobile cars were equipped with the Automatic Safety Transmission system with the introduction of the 4-speed semi automatic transmission. And the car manufacturer was the first company to introduce the Hydramatic or automatic transmission system. The Oldsmobile offered its v8 engine also during the mid 1960. The Oldsmobile was named as the Dynamic 88 and Super 88 during those periods. The less expensive models were called as the Delmont 88 and Jetstar 88 in 1960s. Those models were equipped with the 4 –speed transmission system, 4- barrel carburetor, and 345 hp instead of the 310 hp, 400 CID v8 engine, and 2 exhausts pipes. The new models Oldsmobile were called as the Oldsmobile 442. The Oldsmobile Cutlass became the best selling mid size car for a long thirty years starting from the 1961. Some other car models such as the Cutlass Supreme, Oldsmobile F-85, Vista Cruiser, Starfire, Jetstar l, Toronado, Omega, Cutlass Ciera and Oldsmobile Firenza were some of the great models from the automaker. The 1980s was the great success for the Oldsmobile cars too. But due to the healthy competition in the market, the company offered Aurora in 1995 with the full size luxury car. The Alero also became a huge hit due to its compact size during the 1990s. After 2000, the Oldsmobile hit the market with its models Aurora v8, Bravada SUV, Alero, Intrigue and Aurora v6 models. Moreover, the Oldsmobile cars models were favorites to their buyers due to its latest technology and the user friendly features from time to time.
