Maybach is a famous maker of luxurious cars from Germany. The founder of the company is Wilhelm Maybach, who founded it in 1909. Initially, the director of the Company was Karl Maybach. Maybach was earlier a subsidiary company for Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH. Till 1918; it was also called as Luftfahrzeug Motoreinbau GmbH. Now, the company is owned by Daimler and the headquarters of the company are located at Stuttgart. As Wilhelm Maybach is involved in the company, it has historic roots in it. Formerly the Company used to produce rail cars, gas and diesel engines for zeppelins. In 1919 Maybach did an experiment by making a car. After two years from that the company exhibited a first of its commercial car at Berlin Motor Show. Many classic vehicles were produced by Maybach during the period 1921 and 1940. Simultaneously Maybach produced diesel engines for the purpose of rail and marine. There is contribution of Maybach in the World War II. They did it by making the engines for the tanks of types Tiger and Panther tanks. The name of the engine was Maybach HL230. Later after the World War Maybach did some repair to the tanks but they never started the automotive work again. After a period of 20 years Maybach changed its name to MTU Friedrichshafen. In the year 1997, Mercedes-Benz exhibited a luxury car with the name Mercedes-Benz Maybach, at the Tokyo Motor Show. The engine displacement of the car is 5987cc and it comes with 550 horse power. Mercedes took decision to develop Maybach and Mercedes marketed the cars with the same brand name Maybach. In early 2000s, Maybach recreated the brand. With the new brand name, they released a new model car in two different sizes. The two cars are Maybach 62 and Maybach 57. The numbers in the name of the car represents the length of the cars in decimeters. In the year 2005, a new car was released by Maybach under the model name 57S. The specifications of the car are quite impressive, with whooping horse power of 604bhp, V12 bi-turbo engine and a torque of 999N-m. There are many options to the customers for personalizing the car from the Company. There are also many equipment combinations for the cars. For the promotion of Maybach cars Mercedes-Benz used the celebrities like the Golf player Nick Faldo and heir of Maybach named Ulrich Schmid-Maybach. The new cars expected in the upcoming line-up of the company include a Sedan of 4 seats from Mercedes-Benz, a small Sedan and a luxury SUV.
