Lincoln is an infamous brand of luxury cars, which is a division of Ford Motor Company. Founder of the Lincoln is Henry M. Leland. He found the car in 1917. Ford took over Lincoln in 1922. Since 1920 Lincoln was manufacturing cars. Abraham Lincoln was the inspiration to Leland to put the name Lincoln to the Company. Henry M. Leland was also there among the founders of a division called as Cadillac, which was originally called as Henry Ford Company. During World War I. Henry left Cadillac division. After he left it, Lincoln Motor Company was formed by him, where he built the engines for Liberty Aircrafts along with his son named Wilfred. After the World War was over, the factories were repaired to produce Luxury cars. During the modulation, Company faced many financial problems. The body styling of the cars were so bad that they couldn’t be compared with other cars. In 1922 the Company produced 150 cars which lead the company to bankruptcy and sold Lincoln to the Ford Company for 8,000,000 US Dollars on 4th of February in the year 1922. It is a personal success to Henry Ford as Ford purchased Lincoln. In 1902 Ford changed the name of its division Cadillac. In 1909 a rival of Ford General Motors purchased Cadillac. General Motors is the chief competitor for Lincoln. Lincoln rapidly acquired one of the top positions of America’s luxury cars seller beside Packard and Cadillac. In the year 1923, they introduced many body styles for the car. Some of them are sedan with 4 doors, two and three windowed cars and a phaeton which can accommodate 4 passengers. They also produced a roadster which can accommodate two persons. There’s also a limousine and a touring sedan which can accommodate seven people which they sold both for $5200. Coachbuilders Fleetwood built some cars like Limousine, Sedan and a Cabriolet. One more coachbuilder Brunn built another Cabriolet. The maximum price of the cars built by the coachbuilders was around $7200. In 1924, the company produced large sized touring sedans. Those sedans were used by Police departments all over the country. Those sedans were called as Police Flyers. They were fixed with brakes for all the four wheels. They have spotlights placed at the windshield’s ends and the windshields had a thickness of 7/8th of an inch. And the additional equipments of the vehicle are automatic wiper for driver, hand operated wiper for front passenger, whistles and gun racks.
