A leading automobile company which is famous for making executive and luxurious cars is Jaguar Cars Limited which is being operated under Jaguar Brand. Headquarters of the company are situated in England in the city named Coventry. Founder of the company is Sir William Lyons. It was found in the year 1922. Since year 2008 it is being operated by the Jaguar Land Rover Company. An Indian Company, which happens to be subsidiary of the company, is Tata Motors Limited. Since 1960,s there have been many changes in the owners of the company. When Jaguar was listed on the charts of London Stock Exchange it became a part of FTSE 100 index. Later it was removed from the charts of London Stock Exchange when Ford Company gained Jaguar in the year 1989. Jaguar has royal endorsements from Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth II. In North America Jaguar is pronounced as Jag-Wahr. In the year 1922 Jaguar was found by two motor cycle partisans named William Walmsly and Sir William Lyons found it as Swallow Sidecar Company. Initially the name SS Jaguar appeared on Sports models SS 100 and S 90. Here SS represents Swallow Sidecar. As Swallow Sidecar has no popularity the name Jaguar was given to Jaguar brand in the year 1945. In 1950s, Jaguar name began to be used with their Super Styled Luxury Saloons and Sports Cars. Later in 1960, Daimler Motor Company was bought by Jaguar from Birmingham Small Arms Company. Jaguar started to use Daimler as its brand name for the company’s Luxurious Saloons from late 1960’s. In 1966, a group formed with the name British Motor Holdings. The Group consists of Austin-Morris, British Motor Corporation and Jaguar. Later Jaguar combined with Leyland. By the time of combination Leyland already had Standard Triumph and Rover in its hand. The outcome of this collaboration was the British Leyland Motor Corporation. Due to financial problems, British Leyland Motor Corporation simply changed to British Leyland. In 1984, Jaguar was separated from British Leyland. In 1989, in the month of November Ford, offered the shareholders of Jaguar, who were in US and UK to buy the shares of Ford. In 1990, in the month of February, Jaguar was removed from the stock exchange of London. In 1999, it became a member of group called Premier Automotive Group of Ford in which Aston Martin, Land Rover (member from 2000) and Volvo Cars were also members. Ford sold Jaguar in the year 2008, as they didn’t earn any profit on it.
