Acura Integra

Acura was started in 1986 as a luxury line to Hondas brand appealing to upmarket buyers. The Integra was Acuras first model, emphasising on Acuras engineering excellence and quality. It was an instant hit, especially to those looking for a cheaper alternative to German imports. The car built a strong following from people interested in a commuter car, to those who were looking for a car to be modded for performance. Acura soon put its VTEC variable valve timing system in the Integra in the ealry 90s, making it the only Acura other than the NSX to feature the system. This helped the small 4 cylinder engine gain power while saving fuel. The Integra helped solidify that Acura could compete with luxury car manufacturers in terms of design and comfort. When Acura did away with model names and used alphanumeric names instead, they did away with the Integra and replaced it with the RSX.
