Acura is actually Akyura in japanese and is Hondas luxury line of vehicles. The brand competes heavily with other premium brands like Lexus for example. Other higher end brands are the Rap Song made famous Cadillac and Infinity to name a few. First seen in North America in the mid 1980s Acura has been behind some of its competitor reaching a wider world market. However the expansion does appear to be constant and especially after the turn of the century it seems that the brand is finally catching up. The company is Targetting some of the much larger competitive markets like the Chinese,Japanese, and Russian markets to name a few. If anything is certainly appears that Acura will be around for years to come. Consistantly providing high class luxory cars to lower end consumers.
